Ah, yes. The preparations are happening. Fingers are flying, to-do list is sitting nearby, while I sit here working furiously in my pajamas at 6:45 p.m. (It happens!) All the buzz and excitement of preparing for a fairly big-deal exhibition … labels being created and attached to the back of the work, artist statement and resume updated and printed. Trip (soon!) to the store for bubble wrap and other supplies, cleaning out my car and getting gasoline, doing laundry so I can pack a suitcase for an overnight stay with a friend prior to hanging the exhibition this Saturday. And it is all for a very good cause.
RISE is a charity exhibition and silent auction at the Seattle Design Center, benefiting Rise ‘n’ Shine (helping kids who are affected by HIV/AIDS) and Artist Trust (supporting Washington art at its source). An exhibition of over 100 contemporary art works from 26 up-and-coming artists, all of whom are graduates of Artist Trust’s EDGE Professional Development Program.
This awesome show was created, planned, and is being executed by members of a cohort of (mostly) Seattle-area artists I have had the pleasure of knowing and working with for 11/2 years. This is our third exhibition together, and by far the most rewarding.
The buzz is mounting, excitement is RISEing. Won’t you join us at the opening reception and silent auction April 24th? (For more information, go to The Ladder Project Blog [the official blog for the RISE Exhibition and Charity Auction] ).
