I graduated with a BFA from Marylhurst University, where I studied under Portland artists Marlene Bauer, Paul Sutinen and Dennis Cunningham. Since then, I have continued to explore new artistic possibilities with encaustic artist Elise Wagner and general workshops on creativity and texture.
In 2008 I was one of 33 artists in Washington state selected to participate in Artist Trust’s EDGE Professional Development Program. Since then my cohort and I have created and ran two exhibitions of our work. A third, larger, more ambitious exhibition and auction to raise money for charity opens April 19th, 2010.
A Signature Member of the International Society of Acrylic Painters since 2002, my work has been accepted into national and international level exhibitions by distinguished jurors such as Robert Rosenblum – curator, Solomon Guggenheim Museum (NYC) and Janet Koplos – Senior Editor, Art in America magazine. I have exhibited around the Northwest as well as Boston and New York City.
My travels have taken me to locals around the world, from Europe to Honduras. This exposure to other cultures has made an impact on the background texture of my art – and who I am as a person. I currently live in Vancouver, Washington with my cat Bitsy and Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Colby.
